9am service – currently a smaller congregation. We are learning our way here. Be careful not to be too loud.

Checklist for Sound Desk
December 2024
Before the service
- Turn the sound desk on
- Turn the speakers on
- Instrument and IEM cables are in the cupboard at the front of Spurgeon
- Up to three vocals (cables A, B & C) can be split between the named four vocal channels on the stage box. Make sure you are in the correct one.
- Microphones directly into the stage box
- Instruments through a DI box, attenuation zero
- Check band has in-ear monitor with batteries
- Load ‘Scene’ if required to speed up the setup
- Sound check band. Adjust gain as required
- Assist band adjust monitor levels
- Power up the radio mics and test them, mute and then power off.
- Check song list with worship band ready for the 9am service. Are there any particular dynamics required
- Check with presenter to see if there is a video. If so, check it works
Additionally, there could be a requirement to:-
- Turn on the sound in Olney
- Send sound to West Central
As soon as the band finish rehearsing
- Mute everything except the video
- Play sound for intro video
- Turn on all radio mics (still muted)
- Check the fit of the headset mic for the anchor and speaker. Microphone level with the side of the mouth if possible.
- Remind anchor and speaker not to fiddle with the mics, reassure them that you will unmute/mute for them.
- When the anchor signals, unmute their mic and start
During Service
Speaker
- Unmute the speaker when required
- Unmute the video as required
- Balance the group and master volume faders to give good level in the room and onto the stream
- The levels may be slightly lower than for the sung worship
Worship
- Mute the radio mics
- Adjust volume as required
- Make sure that the vocals are audible to lead the congregation
- Adjust (reduce) the master volume if required if there is an announcement
- Focus on the people in the room and not the stream
After the service
If there is going to be a youth band rehearsal, then you do not need to pack away. If in doubt, check with the youth band leader. Otherwise:-
- Mute all
- Pack away the equipment
- Place batteries on to charge; do not leave them in microphones or monitors
- Turn off the desk
- Turn off the speakers
- Place the cover on the desk
Emergencies
In case of an emergency mute as appropriate so that clear instruction can be given from the front by the Anchor.
